Get ready to rock your next party with these delicious drum-inspired favors made of breadsticks, rice cereal, and candy melts.
Catch their fresh beats every day on Nick Jr.
Line two cookie sheets with wax paper. Place the candy melts in a 2-cup microwaveable bowl. Microwave for about 1 minute and stir every 15 seconds, until the melts are smooth.
Dip all but the top 1 inch of a breadstick into the melted candy to coat. Allow most of the excess candy to drip off the stick back into the bowl. Transfer the coated breadsticks to the prepared cookie sheets. Repeat with the remaining breadsticks and candy (if the candy becomes too thick to coat evenly, microwave about 5-10 seconds longer, or until smooth). Place the coated breadsticks in the refrigerator until set, about 5 minutes.
Make the rice cereal treats by combining the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high until butter and marshmallows are melted, about 1 minute. Stir until smooth. Add the rice cereal and a drop of green food coloring. Evenly press rice cereal mixture into a 13- by 9- by 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray or butter. Cool and cut into 2-inch squares. Next, cut the rice cereal treats in half crosswise. Mold each half into a 2-inch ball. Use the end of a wooden spoon and press into the ball to make an opening wide enough to add the breadstick through it. Repeat with the remaining rice cereal treats to make 16 balls.
Spoon any remaining yellow candy melts into a plastic resealable bag. Microwave and massage the bag every 5 seconds, until candy is smooth. Snip a small corner from the bag. Pipe a dot of candy into the opening of each rice treat. Insert the un-coated end of the breadstick into the candy and return to the cookie sheet. Repeat with the remaining sticks and rice treats. Return the sheets to the refrigerator to set about 5 minutes.
Arrange two breadsticks, Rice Krispies end first, into a cellophane bag. Tie the top of each bag with a piece of ribbon. Repeat to make eight drum stick favors.
