Servings: 12

Prep Time: 15 min.

Cook Time: 10-12 min.

Ingredients

  • 12 corn tortillas
  • Salt (in a not-too-fast shaker)
  • 1/2 lb. Monterey Jack cheese or mild cheddar cheese (or a combination)

Supplies

  • Non-stick cooking spray

Directions

  1. Step 1

Make six piles of two tortillas each. Use kitchen scissors to cut each pile into wedges.

  2. Step 2

Spread the tortillas out in a single layer on two baking trays.

  3. Step 3

Lightly coat the tortillas with non-stick cooking spray.

  4. Step 4

Kids can shake the salt over the chips!

  5. Step 5

Bake at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove the chips from the oven. Cool for five minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Parents should grate the cheese.

  7. Step 7

Let kids sprinkle the grated cheese over the chips. Serve with a mild salsa.

Tip: Sprinkle with diced onion and red, green, and yellow bell pepper for a more colorful--and tastier--plate.
