Max & Ruby are all dressed up and ready for Halloween! Make this pair of "cake" pops for party guests and trick or treaters, or as a fun activity with your Max & Ruby fan.
The rabbits run every day on Nick & NIck Jr.
Cut six of the doughnut holes in half. Trim 1/8 inch from one side of each of the remaining 24 doughnut holes (this is so they can get close together when assembling). Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper, set aside.
Melt the white candy melts and the shortening in the microwave, stirring every 15 seconds until smooth, about 1 minute. Dip the cut side of 24 trimmed doughnut holes. Press two trimmed sides together, sandwiching a lollipop stick in between. Arrange in the prepared cookie sheet and repeat with the remaining doughnut holes to make 12 pops. Place in the refrigerator until set, about 5 minutes.
Dip the cut side of the doughnut hole half and arrange, cut-side down, at the opposite side of the lollipop stick to make the bunny head. Repeat with the remaining pops to make 12. Return to the refrigerator until set, about 5 minutes longer.
Spread some of the vanilla frosting to fill any of the large gaps on the pops and make smooth.
Reheat the melted candy until smooth, about 10 seconds more. Carefully dip, or spoon the candy melts over the doughnut hole assembly to coat. Allow the excess candy to drip off and transfer to the prepared cookie sheet. Repeat with the remaining doughnut hole pops, reheating the candy melts if necessary. Transfer to the refrigerator to set, about 10 minutes.
Cut the marshmallows in half on the diagonal. Use a dot of melted candy to attach the marshmallow pieces, flat side down and cut side facing you, as the ears on top of the doughnut assembly. Sprinkle the cut side with some of the pink sugar.
Spoon the chocolate frosting into a freezer-weight resealable bag. Press out the excess air and seal. Snip a very small corner, about 1/16 inch from one corner. Pipe the eyes, nose, and whiskers on the doughnut assembly.
For the vampire, cut two small triangles from the mini marshmallows as the teeth. Attach, pointed side down along the mouth on six of the pops. Pipe a small amount of red frosting as the "blood" on the marshmallow teeth. Poke a hole in the center of the black paper liners and thread onto the lollipop stick as the cape.
For the princess, pipe a decorative crown along the base of the ears with the blue frosting. Add the pink sprinkles to the crown. Use a clean cotton swab to add the blush and lips to the pops. Poke a hole in the center of the six pink liners. Thread onto the lollipop stick as the collar.
