Ingredients

  • 12 sugar cones
  • 2 cups candy-coated chocolates (M&M's)
  • 1 can (16 oz.) vanilla frosting
  • Blue food coloring
  • 12 unfrosted cupcakes, paper liners removed
  • 1 cup blue decorating sugar
  • 24 chocolate chips
  • 1 tube (4.25 oz.) chocolate decorating frosting

  • Small plastic resealable bag

Directions

  1. Step 1

    Divide the M&M's evenly between the sugar cones to use as weight to keep the cones level.

  2. Step 2

    Tint the vanilla frosting blue with the food coloring. Spoon about 1/2 cup of the blue frosting into a small plastic resealable bag. Snip a small corner from the bag and pipe some of the blue frosting along the inner edge of each cone. Place an unwrapped cupcake into each cone, pressing down lightly to secure. Place the cones and cupcakes in the freezer for 15 minutes to secure.

  3. Step 3

    Place the blue sugar in a shallow bowl. Working on one cupcake at a time, gently spread some blue frosting over the top of a cupcake in the cone and make smooth. Roll the frosted cupcake in the sugar to coat. Repeat with the remaining cupcakes.

  4. Step 4

    To make the eyes, press the chocolate chips with the pointed end into the cupcake. Use the chocolate decorating frosting to pipe a mouth.
