Make a pattern-powered Milli cake for your next party!
All new math-minded missions starting 2/4 @ 9:30am
Tint 3/4 cup of the vanilla frosting neon pink with the food coloring. Tint 3 tablespoons of the vanilla frosting a lighter neon pink and spoon into a plastic resealable bag. Tint 1/2 cup of the vanilla frosting pale peach by adding a dot of red and yellow food coloring to the vanilla frosting. Tint 1/4 cup of the vanilla frosting orange by combining red and yellow food coloring. Spoon the orange frosting into a plastic resealable bag. Spoon 1 teaspoon of vanilla frosting into a plastic resealable bag. Tint the remaining vanilla frosting bright yellow with the food coloring. Spoon the yellow frosting into a pastry bag fitted with a large plain round tip.
Trim 1/2 inch from the top and bottom of the cake to make it slightly oval-shaped. Transfer the cake to a serving platter. Spread the pale peach colored frosting in a 5 inch circle at the bottom edge of the cake to make Milli's face. Spread along the edge as well and make smooth. Spread the neon pink frosting smoothly on the remaining exposed cake to make the helmet. Snip a very small (1/8 inch) corner from the bag with the light pink frosting and pipe small flower shapes all over the pink helmet.
Unroll the red fruit leather strips. Lightly moisten the strips with some water. Fold each strip in half and press together to double its thickness.
Use black frosting to pipe Milli's eyes and the brown frosting for her mouth. Snip a small corner from the bag with the vanilla frosting and pipe a dot of white in her eyes. Snip a 1/8 inch from the bag with the orange frosting and pipe the bangs and eyebrows. Pipe a ring of the yellow frosting around the edge of the face frosting and add 2 dots to the top edge of cake. Press a pretzel stick into the center of each yellow dot of frosting and leave 1 inch exposed. Pinch one end of the fruit leather strip and insert into the yellow dot of frosting--use the pretzel as support. Repeat with the other strip. Arrange the red fruit leather to look like Milli's ponytails.
