Servings: 24

Prep Time: 80 min.

Ingredients

  • 24 unfrosted cupcakes
  • 1 can (16 oz.) prepared vanilla frosting
  • Royal blue paste food coloring
  • 24 black candy-coated chocolates (such as M&M's)
  • 12 black Mexican hat gummies
  • 1 tube (4.25 oz.) black decorating frosting

Supplies

  • 2 resealable plastic bags
Tip: Check your market for a package of plastic frosting bags. To fill one, fold the top half down, holding the bottom with one hand. With the other hand, and using a large spoon, scoop frosting into it. Unfold the bag. To use the bag, hold at the top and push down using a twisting motion.

Directions

  1. Step 1

Spoon two tablespoons of vanilla frosting into a resealable bag. Using the paste food coloring, tint the remaining frosting royal blue. Spoon 1/2 cup of blue frosting into a resealable bag.

  2. Step 2

Frost the tops of the cupcakes with the remaining blue frosting. Arrange black candies for Oswald's eyes and attach a gummy hat to each cupcake. Snip a small corner from the white-frosting bag and pipe lines on his eyes.

  3. Step 3

Pipe a black mouth with the tube frosting. Snip a larger (1/4 inch) corner from the blue-frosting bag and pipe eight legs along the bottom edge of each cupcake, below the mouth.

  4. Step 4

    Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Tip: Kids will enjoy counting out the candy hats and mini chocolate candies for these cupcakes.
