Plex Cupcakes

Your favorite rockin' robot from Yo Gabba Gabba, Plex, makes for a decidedly lip-smacking cupcake. How many robots can make such a tasty claim?

Ingredients

• Basic Vanilla Cupcakes
• 1 can (16 oz.) vanilla frosting
• Black food coloring
• 6 yellow and 3 black taffy strips, (Air Heads)
• 3 pieces black licorice laces
• 24 brown and 12 red candy-coated mini round chocolates, (mini M&M's)

• 2 plastic, resealable bags

Directions

1. Step 1

   Before you start to decorate, make 12 cupcakes in your child's favorite flavor or try our Basic Vanilla Cupcake recipe.

2. Step 2

   Tint 1/2 cup of the vanilla frosting light gray with the food coloring. Spoon the gray frosting into a small resealable bag. Spoon 1/4 cup of the remaining vanilla frosting into a small resealable bag.

3. Step 3

   Cut the yellow fruit chews in half. Heat each piece in the microwave for no more than 3 seconds to soften slightly. Roll out the taffy on a clean work surface into a 1 3/4- by 2 1/4-inch rectangle. Cut with clean scissors to make Plex's head. Cut the black taffy into twelve 1- by 1 1/2-inch rectangles. Cut the black licorice into forty-eight 1-inch lengths.

4. Step 4

   Spread the remaining vanilla frosting on top of the cupcakes and make smooth. Snip a small corner from the bags with the gray and white frosting.

5. Step 5

   Place the yellow fruit chew on top of each cupcake. Place the black fruit chew on top. Pipe small mounds of gray frosting on each side of the yellow candy. Add the licorice as three antennae and one mouth. Pipe two ovals as the eyes with the white frosting. Add the brown candies as the pupils. Pipe a dot of frosting on the top antennae and add the red candy.
