Ingredients

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • Salt
  • 1 six oz. can tuna fish
  • 1-2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 3-4 oz. part-skim mozzarella
Tip: If you can get fresh mozzarella in your local market, try it with this recipe. It tastes great with the tomatoes.

Directions

  1. Step 1

    Adults can dust off the top of each cherry tomato. Help kids scoop out and discard the seeds.

  2. Step 2

    Kids can help sprinkle the tomatoes with salt and turn them upside-down on paper towels to drain for a few minutes.

  3. Step 3

    Drain the tuna and place it into a small bowl. Show kids how to measure out the mayonnaise and mix the tuna and mayonnaise with a fork.

  4. Step 4

    Spoon a little bit of the tuna mix into half of the tomatoes.

  5. Step 5

    Using a plastic knife, kids can cut the mozzarella into 1/2-inch cubes and stuff a piece of cheese into the rest of the tomatoes. Arrange the tomato spots on a plate and serve.

Tip: You can scoop out the tomato seeds with your fingers if you like. Just be sure to work over a bowl!
