For crisper vegetables like green beans, carrots, and broccoli, cook in salted boiling water for 1 minute. Drain and rinse under cold water.
Cut a 12-inch length of twine. Cut the peppers into 1 1/2-inch squares or triangles. Cut the cucumbers into 1/2-inch thick slices.
Use a toothpick or wooden skewer to poke holes in the top of the vegetable shapes. Thread the twine through the hole, using the toothpick to help push the twine through the hole and string several vegetables together.
Discuss the different shapes and colors of the vegetables before enjoying them!
