Ingredients

  • 1 can (16 oz.) vanilla frosting
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate frosting
  • Black food coloring
  • 12 unfrosted cupcakes in child's favorite flavor
  • 6 chocolate cream-filled sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
  • 24 thin pretzel sticks
  • 12 chocolate covered mini mints (like Jr. Mints)
  • 24 pink round decorating sprinkles (like Wilton)

Supplies

  • 3 plastic resealable bags

Directions

  1. Step 1

    Spoon 1/2 cup of the vanilla frosting into a resealable bag. Tint the remaining vanilla frosting light gray with the black food coloring. Tint the dark chocolate frosting black with the black food coloring. Spoon the black frosting into a resealable bag.

  2. Step 2

    Open the cream-filled cookies. Remove the cream and discard. Use a small serrated knife to cut the cookies in half to make 24 semi circles.

  3. Step 3

    Spread the tops of the cupcakes with some of the gray frosting and make smooth. Spoon the remaining gray frosting into a resealable bag. Insert two pretzel sticks, one on either top edge of cupcake as support for the ears. Snip a small corner from the bag with the gray frosting and pipe a small dot on the pretzel stick. Add the cut chocolate cookie, cut side against the cupcake as the ears.

  4. Step 4

    Snip a small corner from the bag with the vanilla frosting and a very small, scant 1/8 inch, corner from the bag with the black frosting. Pipe the vanilla frosting in the center of each of the cookie ears to cover. Pipe the outer edge of cookie with the gray frosting. Add the chocolate mint near the bottom edge of the cupcake as the nose. Pipe black eyes, mouth, and eyebrows with the black frosting. Pipe white dots of frosting for the eyes and nose. Add the pink sprinkles as the cheeks.
