Walden's Jelly Aquarium

Walden created a great snacking project here. Using gelatin, a glass bowl, chopsticks, and candy fish you can create a funky yet edible aquarium.

This recipe has plenty of steps kids can do, like mixing, cutting with a plastic knife, measuring, and more.

Try this recipe at your child's next party. Double the ingredients or divide them in half, depending on the size of your celebration.

Ingredients

4 packages white-grape gelatin
1 package blueberry gelatin
Large glass bowl
10 candy fish

Supplies

Large clear glass bowl or several small glass bowls
Chopsticks

Directions

Step 1
Make the gelatin according to package directions using all white grape gelatin plus 2 tablespoons blueberry gelatin. (Parents will want to do this part.)
Step 2
Pour the gelatin into a large glass bowl (or use small glass bowls) and refrigerate until the gelatin is partially set, but not solid.
Step 3
Show kids how to use a pair of chopsticks to submerge the candy fish into the gelatin. Return the bowl to the fridge until fully set.
