Servings: 1

Prep Time: 30 min.

Ingredients

  • 1 slice (1/2 in. thick) pound cake
  • 1 celery stalk with leaves
  • 1 slice watermelon
  • 1 slice cantaloupe
  • 1 slice kiwi
  • Raspberries

Supplies

  • 1 1/2- to 3-inch flower-shape cookie cutters
Tip: Seedless watermelon works well for this pretty recipe.

Directions

  1. Step 1: Making the Flower Pot

To make the flower pot lip, slice 1/2 inch from one long side of pound cake and arrange on the bottom third of a plate. To make the flower-pot base, trim the short sides from the remaining slice of pound cake and place under the strip of cake on the plate.

  2. Step 2: Making the Flowers and Stem

Trim and arrange the celery stalk on the plate so it looks like a stem. Cut out the watermelon and cantaloupe using 1 1/2- to 3-inch flower-shape cookie cutters, then help your child arrange the fruit flowers near the stem and on top of the stem. Together, add the kiwi slice and raspberries as shown.

Tip: You may want to cut several slices of cake and watermelon in advance so that you can assemble the individual plates more quickly.
