We used self-adhesive wiggly eyes for Pablo's face, but if you prefer, have kids draw the eyes onto white paper instead, then glue them onto the egg.

What You Need
Craft knife
Large blue plastic egg, about 3 1/2 inches tall
Self-adhesive wiggly eyes
Yellow construction paper
Craft glue
Red pipe cleaner
Yellow felt or construction paper
Blue foam board or construction paper
Clear adhesive tape or a stapler
White felt or construction paper

What You Do

Step 1
Before you begin: Parents, use the craft knife to bore a tiny hole in the top of the wide end of the egg. Later, the whirligig on Pablo's beanie will be inserted through this hole.

Step 2
For the face: With the wide part of the egg at the top, have kids press on two wiggly eyes. From the yellow construction paper, cut a small diamond shape, and fold it in half to make the beak. Add glue to the back of the one half of the folded diamond and have kids press it onto the face close to the eyes.

Step 3
For the beanie: With the red pipe cleaner, twist a tiny figure-8 shape at the end, then kids can poke it through the hole in the egg. Inside, twist the pipe cleaner, and if desired, glue it to keep it from wobbling. From the yellow felt, cut a 1-inch-round circle. Cut from the outside of the circle to its center point only. Slip the slit around the pipe cleaner, and glue the circle to the egg.

Step 4
For the collar: From the foam or construction paper, cut an 8- by 1-inch strip. Create a ring, overlapping the ends and stapling or gluing them in place. Cut out a little bowtie and glue it to the collar. Set Pablo inside.
