To help reinforce the lessons of The Upside Down Show, here are some play-at-home ideas based on each episode written by Anna Housley Juster, M.A., Director of Content for Sesame Street and The Upside Down Show.
Episode 110: Birthday Party
Skills Developed:
Imagination
Thinking & Reasoning
At the end of this episode David and Shane give imaginary gifts to each other. When David and Shane open these gifts, they do not directly explain what is in the imaginary packages. This leaves the thinking up to your child. As he watches, he is building important reasoning skills.
You can extend the learning at home by pretending that you and your child
are giving gifts to each other. Hand your child an imaginary box and
encourage her to imagine what it inside as she pretends to open it. Next,
she can imagine what she would give to you.
Keep the celebration going! You can surprise each other throughout the day with imaginary gifts.
