Step 1
Before you start to decorate make a batch of Vanilla Cupcakes or Chocolate Cupcakes , or you can make an assortment of both basic cupcake recipes.
Step 2
Cut each red fruit chew into quarters. Shape 12 of the pieces into the mouth shape, (C shape 1 1/2 inches long). Shape the remaining pieces into small cone shapes. Cut the green fruit chews in half and shape into twenty-four 2- by 1/2-inch rectangles. Cut the licorice into twenty-four 1 1/4-inch pieces. Spoon 1/4 cup of the frosting into a small resealable bag.
Step 3
Place the green sugar in a shallow bowl. Spread the remaining vanilla frosting on top of the cupcakes to mound and make smooth. Roll the tops of the cupcakes in the green sugar to cover completely.
Step 4
Insert three pieces of the red candy along one edge of a cupcake. Snip a small corner from the bag with the vanilla frosting and pipe two ovals as the eyes. Add the brown candies as the pupils. Press a piece of the licorice as a frown on the "C" shape piece of red fruit chew and add as the mouth. Arrange the green fruit chew below the mouth. Add the remaining black licorice as the eyebrows.
